Fruit-striped socks

Fruity & delicious

I've finally finished them, my first pair of socks. I've been wanting to give sock knitting another try for a while and here's the result.

I made these for a friend whose birthday is Halloween. Things have been a little rough with our friendship over the past year, and knitting these socks for her has helped me accept the fact that we will likely never be the friends we were again. And that's OK. Luckily she is not such a picky girl, and will likely love them even with their little flaws. Hopefully they fit, she has little feet!

Fancy scarf

Fancy scarf

My first fancy scarf. Ridiculously easy, I'd heard but was amazed. I used Lion brand: Fun Fur & Bouclé. One skein of each, held together. Casted on 8 to my boyfriend's size 35 needles then knit til the Bouclé ran out. I knit two of these in a couple hours. Why would anyone pay serious money for these beautiful things?

Ideal Bite ::shiny-thing of the day::

Ideal Bite is a weekday e-newsletter that sends you a simple eco-tip for earth friendly living. The writing is down to earth and decidedly un-preachy. I've been a "Biter" for a few months and look forward to the tip in my inbox at the beginning of each work day. There's even a "Tip Library" of past issues that's searchable or browsable by category. Each tips includes additional links for more information or related shopping. My favorites are the tips that feature food or health & beauty!

More crochet adventures: Owly

This time I chose a pattern that had EASY written all over it. The simple stitches needed were listed and described. And it looks darned cute and exactly as expected! Maybe I am getting the hang of this!

Incase you'd like to try, I bought the pattern at Etsy:
